Domestic Abuse Support Worker (female only*) Permanent
Stroud
We are an independent charity providing short term accommodation and outreach support for women fleeing domestic or gender- based violence or abuse.
We are looking for a support worker with experience of working with women and children either in a specialist domestic abuse service, housing or homelessness, refuge, children’s work or family support.
Key elements of the role include:
- Completing detailed risk assessments which will inform safety planning.
- Providing high quality, individualised support to people impacted by domestic abuse.
- Producing person centred support plans, undertaking actions and completing regular reviews to empower service users to progress towards their individual goals.
- Ensuring all service users are welcomed into the service and provided with a comprehensive induction.
- Enabling service users to access statutory and other services.
- Delivering groups for people impacted by domestic abuse.
- Prioritising safeguarding, promoting the welfare of adults, children and young people who are potentially at risk.
Skills and Requirements:
- A valid UK driving licence and assess to own vehicle.
- Understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on women, children and families.
- Knowledge of the benefits of multiagency working to improve safety and outcomes for women and children.
- An ability to maintain a calm approach in busy role while supporting the needs of women or children in crisis.

The office is based within a women’s refuge, therefore this post is restricted to women under the Equality Act 2010.
