1-2-1 Personal Assistant

Nailsworth

A rare opportunity has become available for an experienced & relevantly qualified male to work as part of a small, happy and supportive team alongside experienced qualified teachers. This role is to empower, support and enable a much loved neurodivergent tween with multiple diagnosis, to excel in a bespoke home education arrangement in Nailsworth in an EOTAS (Education other than at School) funded package created & coordinated by the parent who is also a qualified neurodivergence and education professional.

*Billy has a love of learning, is social and has no known mental health needs. We are an openly neurodivergent family who are learning every day how to carve out a neurodivergent friendly life that works and meets needs holistically and are generally excited about life but needs lots of respite time too which is essential to avoid burn out.

Job Description:

Home Based: Nailsworth – swimming pool, gym, fire pit etc on site.

The Role is freelance, full time x 4.5 days a week; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays approx. 9.45 – 4pm with flexibility. This is an all-year-round role, with time off as required.

x 1 days will be supporting the client 1-2-1 at a forest school style setting, other activities will also be in the community at various locations, and you will be taking the client on public transport and in your own car, additional insurance and a clean driving licence will be required. There will be no 'lone working' for the first 3 months or so during the induction period. Additional hours may be offered in time.

This is a freelance role, and details of the arrangements will be worked out together democratically and guided by the best interests of the young person holistically, directly and through the parents.

Training specific to the client’s differences and support needs will be paid for and given, as will ongoing supportive supervision, however core qualifications are expected to already have been gained.

Mandatory & full safeguarding checks including enhanced police checks, fitness to work medical checks, driving licence check, referencing etc will be sought and paid by ourselves for the right candidate.

Person Specification, essential

It is an occupational requirement that the person supporting the tween is Male.

Level 3 diploma in relevant qualification as minimum.

Ability to be simultaneously hyper vigilant to keep the client safe while appearing casual and relaxed to enable positive relationship with client and to instil positive wellbeing, it’s a sought-after skill!

Ability to build a rapport and create a Neurodivergent affirming and understanding mentor/buddy relationship with a young man that works.

Ability to use direct and clear language, down to earth in character.

Physically fit and capable, in order to keep up with the tween!

Responsible, unflappable, kind, safe, honest and patient.

Punctual, clean living, quick witted, with great hygiene.

Car and clean driving licence are essential.

Great sense of humour!

Be understanding, aware educated in diversity matters – disability, race, and how it impacts on individuals and the importance of positive self-regard and identity and being part of that.

Be outdoorsy, country local knowledge, confident, able and knowledgeable.

Ability to think outside of the box and solutions focussed.

To lead without it feeling like it – democratically, through inspiration not compliance.

Judgement free and empowering approach.

Bonus points for Minecraft, Lego cats, stock motion, YouTube making and Pokémonplayers!

Fun, positive and non-patronising (teenage friendly).

Be able to take the client to our on-site gym and pool and lead by example.

Excellent Tech skills - apple, range of software’s and music equipment (You will be supporting online learning daily).

Be able to indirectly educate and role model as you go.
