This week, Cheltenham is abuzz with people going to the Literature Festival. If you haven't booked tickets yet, there are still some available and the full Cheltenham Literature Festival listing is here.
In 2013, over 135,000 tickets were sold to the festival! All those visitors would have needed food and drink whilst at the festival, which is why Cheltenham caterers have such a busy time while they are on. If you would like to be working in catering in time for the next festival, which is Jazz, next April, you could sign up for the GC Express course at Gloucestershire College.
In our job list below, we have selected some hospitality and catering roles, so you can see the type of jobs that are currently available. You could even start by volunteering at the festivals (see their add for more details).
Hospitality and Catering – a career for life
A career in Hospitality and Catering is a career for life, and you can retrain to find work in one of Gloucestershire’s many hospitality outlets in just 12 weeks with the Gloucestershire College Fast Track Chef Skills GC Express course starting Monday 20 October.
If you opt for the GC Express Chef Skills course you will be gain the experience and level of qualification required to find employment within the catering industry. You will learn how to prepare and cook a wide variety of food to professional standards, as well as menu planning, health recipes and food safety. You will also study food hygiene and you will take the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering.
