Animal Nursing Assistants Wanted!
Gloucester
We are excited to welcome two new members to our nursing team at Wood Veterinary Group! We are a busy 24/7 Animal Hospital in Quedgeley.
The Role:
The role of the Animal Hospital Assistant is to assist with daily routines including looking after patients and assisting with cleaning protocols. You will be providing support to the nursing staff in keeping the kennel, theatre and prep areas including the outside areas (where animals are walked) immaculate at all times. Priority must be given to achieving excellent cleanliness. You are directly responsible to the Head Veterinary Nurse.

- Flexible and able to cover shifts.

- Physical fitness to cope with manual handling tasks daily, including heavy lifting, stretching, use of autoclave and heavy-dutycleaning.
- Stamina to work long periods on feet.
Responsibilities:
- Cleaning kennels
- Ensure the practice is kept clean and tidy, including the kennel, theatre, and prep areas.
- Ensure the operating theatre, consulting rooms,ward area and prep room are kept properly stocked with disposables, also ensuring they are kept clean and maintain a professional outlook.
- Assist colleagues as required.
- Washing/drying laundry
- Prep duties including, cleaning kits and instruments, packing and sterilising.
- Assist with daily and monthly job lists in theatre and kennels if on top of your own jobs.
- Ensure all animals are kept clean and comfortable and exercised appropriately.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and running effectively if any problems/faults are picked up they must be reported to a senior member of staff or Director – training for all equipment will be provided.
- Accurately monitoring/recording levelsand Oxygen ordering.
- Always follow practice protocols and health and safety guidelines.
- Training provided in laboratory to run blood and urine samples.

- Salary £22,748 p/a (£11.67 p/h)
- Full time hours Monday to Friday to cover shifts from 6:30am to 9pm – subject to change as required for business.
- 1:5 weekends with time off in lieu
