Part-time Buddy & Mentor to an awesome neurodivergent male tween

Nailsworth, Stroud

Nailsworth – in a development with a pool, playing courts, BBQ area, fire pit, river, and wildlife sanctuary on site.

£20-25 per hour depending on experience and/or relevant qualifications. Some hours will be spent coordinating, researching, networking, and communicating as per organising playdates and sourcing appropriate groups to attend. Role is at a family home in Nailsworth and out & about.

To start asap pending checks, interview, and a successful supervised paid trial.

Key facts of role offered:

1. You’ll be working as part of a small, professional and dedicated happy little team around this child who is home educated.
2. Work will be carried out at the child’s home, out and about.
3. Working with a much loved, happy, (generally) enthusiastic 12-year-old autistic, ADHD (on diagnostic pathway), PDA male tween who is ‘2E’ (twice exceptional- gifted and delayed) and has sensory processing and sensory modulation differences, auditory processing differences and situational mutism and has some autism and sensory related anxiety at times.
4. Must enjoy the ‘buzz’ of helping keep order and organisation in a way that works for a neurodivergent family in the home in relation to resources and space efficiency and be able to quickly keep on top of things.
5. Home based role and ‘out and about’ in our communal outdoor areas, at clubs and events etc
6. Full support/induction/trial period and learning time given paid so you can support well and confidently.
7. Parent is the direct employer and is a neurodivergent & education professional and on hand to help, guide and enable success of the role. 8. Paid monthly upon receipt of freelance invoice.

Applicant musts:

• Autism/ADHD/PDA/SPLD experienced and neurodivergent affirming, Highly responsible and trustworthy
• Fun, warm, non-sarcastic good sense of humour and non-patronising.
• Health and safety, mental health & first aid informed, vigilant and aware (training offered if required)
• Be highly tech and admin savvy, (apple, Alexa, social media, calendars, trips, transport, timetables, communication etc) highly organised, efficient, clean, and tidy.
• Resourceful, positive & practical.
• Fun confident communicator who can create and build relationships and support child to do the same.
• Outdoorsy, fit, healthy, and quick witted/ ‘on your toes’ (this child moves fast sometimes!)
• Able to build a rapport and lasting valued, trusting relationship that feels safe and enjoyable.
• Can educate as they go in a casual non oppressive manner.
• Happy to have an enhanced online clear DBS police check processed if you don't have one already, references, and all relevant safeguarding checks.
• Good knowledge of the local area and a clean driving licence and own car are desirable but not essential.
• Good personal hygiene, clean & tidy and well organised. No perfumes and sprays please! (Allergies)
• Must like animals, cat at home so having an allergy is not viable sorry.
• Good mental & physical health and calming well-regulated demeanour.
• Fun!
• Patient, caring, tolerant, kind and confidence building.
• Bonus - Pokémon fans! Lego, board games and science geeks welcome! local knowledge, funny, upbeat.

Hours Per Week: Approx.10 but we can work it out together depending we both need no worries and it’s flexible week to week. Afternoon/early evening work and occasional weekend.
