GL11 is a busy Community Hub based in Cam, Gloucestershire, providing a wide range of learning, volunteering, employment and family services to support a thriving local community.

£ 19,520 – £21,970 pro rata
(£8,116 - £9,135 pa)
16 hours over 3-4 days pw

Working as part of a small team, you will be providing 121 wellbeing support, nurturing volunteers and developing volunteer roles. You will coordinate volunteer activity, coaching, inspiring and motivating them to achieve their potential. As part of our kind, people-centred service, you will continually listen and respond to service users’ needs.

Job Description
JOB TITLE: Volunteer Co-ordinator
REPORTS TO:  Wellbeing Manager
HOURS:  16 hours per week 50 weeks of the year
SALARY:   £19,520 - £21,970 pro rata 
JOB PURPOSE:    
To create a positive, accessible and welcoming environment for volunteers and users with a wide range of skills and support needs while developing an exciting programme of volunteering opportunities. 

Key Tasks:

1. Partnership, networking and outreach
• To network and build relationships with referral agencies, both for referring into GL11 and for volunteers’ onward journey

2. Volunteer recruitment and support
• Working collaboratively and in partnership with the Wellbeing Manager and wider staff team identify where volunteers are needed to support service delivery
• In partnership with the wider team produce suitable job roles for volunteer posts
• Interview and assess people, offering training as required and placing into the internal roles as appropriate    
• Provide 1 to 1 support to enable individuals to reach their potential
• Work closely with the Marketing and Events Officer in promoting volunteering opportunities across various media
• When no opportunities are available at GL11 or the individual needs and requirements cannot be met by GL11, signpost and refer the individual to alternative external opportunities

3. Wellbeing support
• Act as first point of contact for people referred to the Hub
• Support and deliver 121 services for participants
• work in partnership with participants to identify and assess needs
• address barriers to participation and engagement
• provide positive, practical and meaningful guidance and support
• refer participants to external or internal staff and activities, working together to support the participant’s journey

4. Administration
• Ensure all volunteers complete the relevant paperwork including Registration Forms, Journey forms, reviews and DBS checks as required
• Input information onto the Management Information System (MIS) Run a Club ensuring it is accurate and reflects ongoing activity, utilising other systems as required
• Provide the managers with regular reports and statistical data for board and funder reports
• Working in partnership with the managers produce case studies demonstrating the journey travelled by volunteers 
• Working in partnership with the Marketing and Events Officer organise and run the yearly Volunteer Appreciation event

5. General
• To work pro-actively as part of the GL11 Community Hub team
• To work within GL11 Community Hub policies, including Health and Safety, Equalities and Confidentiality
• To be self-servicing for all aspects of administration
• Assist in other areas of the organisation as required

Person Specification
• Extensive experience of recruiting, training, motivating and retaining volunteers
• Experience and knowledge of community development and networking and of how volunteers can be utilized to meet and support community needs
• The ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with volunteers whilst maintaining professional boundaries
• A good understanding of local social and community opportunities
• The ability to relate and empathise with people from all backgrounds
• Good organisational, planning, and administrative skills
• Confident use of IT including Word, spreadsheets, email, social media etc.
• Commitment and enthusiasm for engaging diverse audiences
• Flexibility and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
• Commitment to ensuring equality of opportunity and access for all
