We have an exciting opportunity to join the Cheltenham team as the Commercial Manager in Clothing & Home.

Marks and Spencer Cheltenham has been serving customers in this affluent spa town for over 100 years. Cheltenham is a town in Gloucestershire, renowned for the Cheltenham Festival Jump racing. You will be joining a team of 3 Commercial Managers, 9 Section Managers and 190 Customer Assistants.

You will have sole accountability for a team of 5 Section Managers and 120 advisors to drive annual sales of £17 million. You’ll be accountable for delivering a fantastic shopping experience to over 55,000 customers a week, driving down costs and leading a motivated team through business transformation.

The ideal candidate must be motivated to drive excellence across all of Clothing and Home and VM and challenge and develop your team to reach new heights. You would also need to be able to manage complexity, deliver change and drive results with pace whilst developing the next generation of talent within the store.

About the role

Role model to the Store & Region for the Business Values and ways of working
Accountable for delivering the customer experience in store, improving the frequency of visit and maximising sales
Accountable for the in-store delivery of the scorecard measures of performance and operational excellence through team capability, teamwork and collaboration
Accountable for driving an efficient operation in a store which operates safely and legally.
Accountable for the delivery of the store people plan, coaching your team and ensuring individual capability and skills are developed.
A key contributor in talent growing all roles in retail. Being an advocate and leader to store management colleagues in growing internal talent in a high turnover store.
Understand local competition and external retail developments that influence the performance of the store, capitalises local opportunities to drive customer conversion and sales
Build relationships with key stakeholders such as the RTVM, Buyers and sellers network and RCOM to maximise on store and regional success.

About you

As a Commercial Manager, we are looking for strong communication skills, a great track record and the ability to influence and inspire fellow managers to action. We will be looking for you to show us a strong drive and vision, particularly with regards to how you’d go about supporting moving the store forward. A real commercial instinct, a business management mindset and a passion for high performance will all be vital ingredients to your success - and ours.
