Volunteer bucket collection (Gloucester)

Who is National Star?

National Star is a Gloucestershire based charity that supports young people with complex disabilities.  The young people we work with are aged between 16-25 years of age, and have a range of disabilities, including cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, sensory impairments, acquired brain injuries through accident or illness, genetic conditions and syndromes, profound and multiple learning disabilities, autism, and associated medical conditions.

By supporting National Star you can help more young people with complex disabilities to learn essential life skills, gain the freedom of independent mobility by learning to drive their electric wheelchair, discover how to communicate using state of the art technology, and to develop their confidence.

What will I be doing?

Join us in Gloucester City Centre as we collect donations for National Star from members of the public.

What skills do I need?

For this volunteering role, we're looking for people who have good conversational/people skills, a friendly attitude and approach and a polite and helpful manor. The role will involve representing National Star in public and handling donations, so we are looking for responsible, honest and trustworthy volunteers.

How much time will I need to commit?

This is a one day event only, on Saturday 6 July. Shifts are 2 hours long each and will be from 11am – 1pm or 1pm – 3pm (please specify which slot you would like when you contact us).

What support will I be given?

• Support from the Fundraising team at National Star
• All materials, such as buckets, leaflets and National Star t-shirt/sash

What benefits can I expect?

• We’ll keep you informed and up to date about the work of National Star
• You’ll get the chance to develop your skills and gain experience in fundraising
• You’ll feel great knowing you’re helping young people with complex disabilities to realise their aspirations

Where will I be based?

The event is in Gloucester City Centre at various locations.

How do I apply?

Contact Mary Peterson in the Fundraising team by clicking on Apply Now or call the number in the contact information.

Please note: This volunteering opportunity is suitable for anyone who can stand (or sit) and collect donations for 2 hours. We are very happy for people in wheelchairs to help us with this fundraising activity, but as we will be in the centre of town, we cannot guarantee that disabled toilets will be readily available. We will not be able to support anyone with additional needs at this location, unless their carer accompanies them and is responsible for their personal care and support.
