Senior Strategic Underwriter - 2650
Any UK Offices
To assimilate large quantities of information and put forward recommendations on how Ageas will remain at the forefront of the UK Insurance industry. This will be achieved by undertaking Underwriting activity to ensure that our capabilities and product offering remain relevant over the medium to longer term.
Main Responsibilities as a Senior Strategic Underwriter:
- To research, develop and recommend new underwriting concepts utilising market and competitor analysis to maximise account profitability.
- Work closely with portfolio underwriting teams, risk and market pricing teams and external partners to ensure strategic deliverables are met.
- To evaluate new scheme, affinity and product propositions in order to identify potential profitability and recommend any necessary underwriting changes.
- Lead specific ‘Strategic Underwriting Project’ work streams, overseeing the development and implementation of new initiatives, product changes, new product and schemes.
- Support the coordination of strategic deliverables with key external underwriting and pricing partners ensuring clear communication to stakeholders and alignment of internal views and priorities.
Skills and experience you need as a Senior Strategic Underwriter
- Knowledge and experience of working in a Personal Lines Underwriting environment, a sound understanding of underwriting principles and experience of a wide range of technical issues. Awareness of the market and legal / industry developments.
- Strong numeracy skills with an ability to analyse, interpret and identify trends within large volumes of data and to make and present clear and accurate recommendations.
- Computer literate, able to use Microsoft Office and be willing to learn new applications.
- Practiced time management experience, a sound understanding of numbers and the ability to quickly identify inconsistencies in data, an analytical thinker who is able to deduce information and who has proven decision making skills.
- Effective communicator both verbally and in writing, able to communicate technical issues in a clear and helpful way, exhibits good questioning and listening skills, able to persuade and influence others and well developed negotiation skills.

Salary: £48,000 - £60,000pa
Hours Per Week: Permanent, Part Time, Full Time, Job Share option available
