Maternity Support Worker - Obstetric Theatres/Recovery, Band 3 - C9318-25-0229

Job summary
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Maternity Support Worker. This role is specifically to support the midwives working in obstetric theatres by caring for women who have had caesarean births, and their babies, in the obstetric recovery department. This is a busy department comprised of midwives, obstetric doctors, anaesthetists, theatre assistants, and maternity support workers. Your role will be vital in providing the best care to families post-surgery, and you will be a valued member of the team.
This role offers flexible hours to work around an elective theatre list; this will include 8-hour shifts from approximately 08:30 - 16:30. This is a weekday-only role and will not cover nights or weekends.
Main duties of the job
Your daily duties will be varied but may include:
- blood pressure monitoring
- oxygen saturation levels
- body temperature, pulse rate and respiration rate for both adults and babies
- glucose monitoring for both adults and babies
- collection and testing of urine
- wound swabs
- removal of urinary catheters
- taking blood samples for both adults and babies
- personal care of women and birthing people
- assisting midwives with weighing blood loss during births
- personal care of babies
- feeding support, both breastfeeding and bottle feeding
- recording your actions accurately in relevant IT systems
