*Early Years Apprentice - Full Time positions available*

Do you have a passion to work with children and help them to develop?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated and passionate childcare apprentices to join our team at Into Play Barnwood.

This is a full-time role which consists of 41.25 hours per week on a Rota basis for 52 weeks of the year (nursery closes for 1 week at Christmas plus all Bank Holidays). Alongside your working hours you will be expected to undertake your studies with the ongoing support of our external training agency and the nursery manager.

This is a fixed term position for approx. 12 – 18 months whilst you work towards your NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Early Years Education. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee employment after your apprenticeship has completed.

Salary: Apprentice rate in accordance with National Minimum Wage currently £6.40 expected to increase to £7.55 in April 2025.

In order to be considered for this position you will be required to complete an application & self- declaration form. If shortlisted, you will then be invited to attend an in-person interview. If this interview is successful, you will then be asked to complete a short trial session. Please do not apply if you are not happy to follow this process.

Responsibilities and Duties include:

 To learn how to promote the philosophy of ‘learning through play’ helping to create a FUN active
environment in which our children can grow and develop
 To learn how to plan, prepare and participate in a range of activities that promote each child’s
physical, intellectual, and emotional needs, and encourage linguistic and social interaction between
the children and their carers
 To learn how to ensure the children are cared for in a safe, educationally stimulating way helping
them reach their full potential
 To learn how to ensure the environment meets safety and hygiene requirements
 To learn how to be responsible for a group of children, by observing, monitoring, and accurately
recording each child’s development in line with the curriculum planning of ‘The Early Years Foundation Stage’
 To learn to communicate with parents, carers about the day-to-day needs of the children by fostering parental involvement and encouraging positive parenting skills
 To learn how to help children acquire self-help skills, including dressing, feeding, toilet training, and
an awareness of personal hygiene
 To ensure that all children are treated as unique individuals with respect and full consideration, in
line with the Into Play’s Equal Opportunities Policy
 To attend staff and team meetings as appropriate
 To learn about the Children Act 1989 and other statutory requirements
 To learn how to maintain records and documentation that, comply with statutory requirements
 To learn how to implement and respond to Into Play’s Policies & Procedures with emphasis on
safeguarding, child protection and confidentiality

 To undertake the apprenticeship training including Key Skills, First Aid and any other training as necessary

Essential skills, experience and qualifications

 Honest & trustworthy, punctual and have good timekeeping skills
 Presentable, clean and tidy and wear the correct uniform
 Patient & friendly & able to be a role model to children
 Willingness to learn and undertake further training
 Able to commit to a full apprentice programme with a commitment to obtaining a level 2 or 3
qualification
 A commitment to undertake all necessary training requirements by law and regulations
 A willingness to work as part of a team and carry out any housekeeping duties as required
 Good communication skills
 A commitment to continuously promote a culture of safeguarding
 A commitment to equal opportunities
 A commitment to working effectively with young children and families
 A friendly and flexible approach at work which facilitates the development of effective relationships
 The successful applicant is also expected to be flexible and adaptable in their approach to fulfilling
their duties
