What skills and experience we're looking for
Essential Qualifications
- Qualified teacher status
- Degree
- National Award for SEN Co-ordination or working towards it
Experience
- Successful teaching experience across the primary age range, including successful support of children with a range of SEND and those eligible for pupil premium funding.
- Leading workshops and meetings for parents.
- Experience of monitoring teaching and learning to meet the needs of pupils with SEND and those eligible for pupil premium funding and providing developmental feedback for staff
- Experience of writing support plans and provision maps
- Experience of implementing and leading whole school initiatives
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders and building effective working relationships.
- Successful experience of improving the quality of teaching and learning through monitoring and support
- Experience of managing challenging situations and problem solving; with the ability to support and challenge and to hold others to account.
- Knowledge and understanding of a broad, balanced and relevant primary curriculum.
- The promotion of positive behaviour with the ability to manage pupil discipline effectively and have a commitment to a high level of pastoral care
- An ability to articulate and demonstrate the characteristics of high quality teaching and effective pedagogy, and the processes by which children learn with the ability to model this for others and support others to improve
- Understanding the impact of assessment for learning on improving outcomes
- Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
- Ability to provide a clear vision and direction for the development of inclusive practice.
Specialist knowledge
- Knowledge and understanding of a broad, balanced and relevant primary curriculum.
