Care Assistant - Day Centre

Minchinhampton GL6

We are looking for 2 x Care Assistants for our Day Centre. The current role is for 16 and 22 hours per week including some Bank hours, Monday to Friday. Hours are from 8:15/10:00 am start (depending on rota) to 4:00 pm. Pay is dependent on experience.

Key Tasks

• To participate in the delivery of the service users physical care, including mobility, toileting, bathing, feeding and encouraging them to maintain their independence, thus ensuring that a high standard of person-centred care is achieved.
• To escort service users between their homes and the Centre and on outings to and from the Centre.
• To appraise yourself of each individual’s care plan, adhere to planned care and assist in the planning process.
• As a Key Worker, to be responsible for the daily care and activities of a group of clients
• To work as part of the Day Centre team reporting to the Day Centre Manager.
• To be involved in the assessment of service users needs and assist with the planning and delivery of a stimulating activities programme on a daily basis.
• To liaise with those involved in managing the Centre ensuring that it runs smoothly and efficiently
• To assist service user choice of menu and record on selection sheets for the Catering department. To assist clients at meal and refreshment times, including feeding, cutting up food, monitoring dietary needs and food intake.
• To record on individual care plans, all daily personal and social care for your group of clients in attendance. To complete daily evaluation and medication sheets.
• To be involved in maintaining the safety and security of our service users at all times.
• To assist with securing the Day Centre at the end of each day and ensure that the centre is left tidy.
• To maintain the kitchenette to a high standard, meeting all food hygiene regulations and MCEL Food Safety policy. This includes maintaining the cleanliness of the sink, fridge, work surfaces and cupboards and take part in light cleaning as required.
