Senior Support Worker (Outreach)
Gloucester

Job Role: Senior Support Worker (Outreach)
Salary: £27,000 per year
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract type: Permanent
Location: Gloucestershire

- Participation in an outreach rota which includes early mornings, evenings and weekends.
About the service:
From April 1st, Julian House will be leading the Gloucestershire Rough Sleeper Service, providing specialist outreach support to adults with a history of rough sleeping. Covering both rural areas like Tewkesbury, Forest of Dean, Stroud, and the Cotswolds, as well as urban hubs like Gloucester and Cheltenham, we’ll work in partnership with local housing and support organisations.
Our goal? To empower individuals, build resilience, and support them on their journey toward independence and a life beyond the streets.
The Role:
As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll be based in our Gloucester office, with regular travel to support rural communities across Tewkesbury, Forest of Dean, Stroud, and the Cotswolds. You’ll lead weekly drop-in sessions, oversee outreach in these areas, and support your team in delivering vital services.
This role is both rewarding and challenging- you’ll navigate setbacks, resolve conflicts, and support clients on their long-term journey toward independence. Your resilience, creativity, and proactive mindset will be key to making a real difference!
Responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic leadership for a service that is designed to provide person-centred support and reduce rough sleeping
- Attend relevant meetings with Commissioners and make presentations about the service to a diverse range of audiences
- Involve clients in the on-going development of the service, building on their strengths and ensuring their needs are represented to existing services
- Provide supervision, support and guidance to other staff and volunteers as agreed with the Service Manager
- Undertake rostered outreach sessions including early morning, evenings and weekends.
Since job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the post holder may be required to undertake other duties, which are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities
Qualifications / Requirements:
- A valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle – business insurance will be required for roles involving travel for work
- Experience working with vulnerable adults and/or people with complex needs and challenging behaviours
- Ability to undertake needs assessments and planning for people with complex social needs
