SOCIAL BUDDY COORDINATOR

Stonehouse

JOB TITLE: Social Buddy Coordinator
LOCATION: Based in our office in Stonehouse, with travel across the County.
HOURS: 21 hrs per week, very occasionally some evening and weekend work may be required with good notice given.
SALARY: £14,280.00 (£25,500 full time equivalent)
22 days annual leave pro rata, plus 8 bank holidays pro rata.
RESPONSIBLE TO: CEO and Board of Trustees

This is achieved by empowering and enabling learning disabled adults to meet new people, make new friends and have fun doing things they enjoy while gaining a sense of belonging in their local community. New friends and relationships gained through our service increase choice, control and independence.

JOB FUNCTION

Our Social Buddies Service matches adults with learning disabilities to volunteers with similar interests so they can enjoy the things they love together.

The role has four primary purposes:

In addition, the post holder is required to work closely with other team members and our advisory group to organise a diverse range of group activities for our Social Buddies to attend and to increase opportunities for peer-to-peer connections.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Work collaboratively with participants and volunteers to ensure the service reflects the needs of people with learning disabilities in the community.
2. Run a regular advisory group to ensure the voices of people with learning are heard and reflected in the service, ensuring continual service improvement.
3. Ensure all those accessing the service, participants and prospective volunteers, receive a professional and coordinated response, with up to date, relevant advice and information.
4. Maintain an up-to-date database of the location, interests and particular circumstances of participants ensure the best possible outcome when matching.
5. To work with the Training Manager to deliver the Building Circles Volunteer Training Programme.
6. Research and share knowledge of opportunities, clubs and activities for people with learning disabilities in Gloucestershire and signpost friendship pairings appropriately.
7. Develop best possible practice to meet the needs of those accessing the services, recognising, and deploying volunteers’ strengths and acting as an authentic role model.
8. Celebrate volunteer success, manage any capability issues swiftly and with professionalism in accordance with Building Circles Policy and Procedure.
9. Maintain good communication through WhatsApp groups and meetings to provide a forum to share concerns, ideas, experience and skills
10. Ensure an annual programme of good quality, reflective 1:1 supervision for volunteers is provided.
11. Respond appropriately to any safeguarding concerns, demonstrating an understanding of, and complying at all times with Building Circle’s procedures for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable adults.
12. Ensure referrals are appropriate or signposted to more suitable services and ensure the right level of information is provided.
13. Ensure case management is of a high standard. Carry out regular and robust case file audits in line with the Building Circle’s Policy.
14. Work closely with colleagues to ensure volunteer work is appropriately recognised and celebrated.
15. Attend and actively participate in team meetings and other meetings as required by the CEO.
16. Support the CEO in planning, monitoring and reviewing the development of the service in line with identified priorities, targets and outcomes. Track, collate and report target data for performance monitoring reviews as requested.
17. Actively take part in Building Circle’s formal appraisal and supervision processes and be responsive to critical challenge, advice, feedback and direction as part of a process of continuous improvement.
18. Contribute to the growth and development of the organisation by gaining a working knowledge of Building Circles services and proactively marketing the organisation.
19. Implement Building Circle’s Ethicality & Diversity Policy and Ethical Policy in every aspect of your work and positively promote the principles of these policies amongst colleagues, Focus People and other members of the community.
20. Comply with Building Circle’s Health and Safety Policy, Data Protection Policy and to protect your own and others’ health, safety and welfare.
21. Work flexibly as may be required, which will include some travel which may increase over the duration of the role. Carry out any other reasonable duties as required.
