Wellbeing and Activity Co-ordinator (Part time considered)

JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports to: Trustees & Stroud Mencap and supports the Senior Management Team & Seniors to ensure a rewarding and meaningful programme of activities.
PRINCIPLE PURPOSE
- To create, organise and develop a stimulating and engaging programme of internal and external activities within the service to enhance the daily lives of our service users and to meet their emotional, physical and intellectual needs.
- To undertake responsibilities and work within established procedures and policies.
- To collaborate with and have respect for all colleagues and service users.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To build and maintain good relationships with service users their relatives and staff
- To provide opportunities and space for service users voices to be heard and communicated to relevant people
- Advocate for service users to ensure their feedback is listened to and implemented into their overall care and support
- To co-ordinate and produce in partnership with Senior Management Team and the Seniors an activities programme of group and one to one activities to enrich the lives of the service users
- Integrate existing activities/resources into the programme (such as the gardening club, sensory room & Holiday Lodge) and ensure that the results of service users efforts are utilised effectively within the homes
- To motivate, encourage and participate in activities with service users
- To delegate activity responsibilities to staff to ensure that activities are offered at regular intervals
- Be aware of service users likes, dislikes, nutritional & cultural needs as well as their care plans, and allocated support hours.
- Arrange photographs of events and supply articles for our newsletter and website.
- Source Grants and manage contributions to activities from the service users (in line with individual financial plans)
- Co-ordinate volunteers and their activities to make effective use of them.
- To act at all times in a professional manner to visitors, staff and service users within the home.
- To observe and promote service user choice, independence, dignity, privacy, fulfillment and other rights
- To create a warm and friendly atmosphere within our supported living homes, enabling service users to engage in household responsibilities to the best of their abilities.
- Comply with Health and Safety regulations of working.
- Manage time effectively to meet all specified deadlines.
- Ensure relevant training is undertaken.
- Take part in supervisions and appraisals
- Undertake other duties which may be reasonably required from time to time.
- Flexibility from time to time, to work additional hours as shall be reasonable to discharge properly your duties and responsibilities
Safeguarding and Health & Safety
- Share SDHF’s commitment for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of service users in line with the organisations safeguarding policy and procedures.
- Carry out the above duties in accordance with SDHF Health and Safety Policy.
- Comply with all the policies and procedures of SDHF as contained in the Employee Handbook and the Policies and Procedure file
- Maintain exemplary standards of professionalism, honesty and respect at all times
- Be responsible for the care of your working area.

Salary: £25,000 per annum (pro rata for part time)
Hours Per Week: 37.5hrs per week
