Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Assistant
Gloucester
Reports to: Executive Director working closely with Office Manager
Contract: Fixed term contract of 3 months.
Hours: 16-£22.5 hours pw - 9.00am-5.30pm
Location: Main office in Gloucester with work across the county of Gloucestershire and some WFH as agreed.
Gloucestershire Nightstop provides emergency accommodation and support for young people, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and aged between 16-25, across the county of Gloucestershire, on a night-by-night basis, in the homes of trained and vetted volunteers.

To champion young people, between 16-25 years, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and to provide safe, supportive, and stable accommodation and early intervention to prevent homelessness.
Job purpose
The purpose of the role is to support the recruitment of volunteers, including responding to interest created by our Christmas Campaign 2024. This will include SM enquiries, emails etc.
You will engage in discussions that lead people to our website to apply.
You will ensure those currently applying have a smooth onboarding and feel supported.
You will also facilitate retention of volunteer hosts by completing mandatory Health and Safety Visits to volunteer homes, getting feedback from volunteers, collaborating to increase our volunteer numbers and raise awareness of Gloucestershire Nightstop.
You will support the recruitment of volunteer drivers in the same way.
There will also be occasional events and talks that you would support, keeping power points and promotional materials up to date.
Creating content to provide for Comms and showcasing the community engagement and successful volunteer stories.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Support GNS in recruiting and retaining volunteers.
- Conduct mandatory Health and Safety visits to volunteer homes.
- Gather feedback from volunteers to improve engagement.
- Maintain and update PowerPoint presentations and promotional materials.
- Contribute to the creation of content for communications, highlighting community engagement and volunteer success stories.
- To liaise with partner agencies and represent Nightstop externally as required at relevant meetings and forums
- Take part in, and occasionally deliver events and talks.
- To maintain full and accuratevolunteer and client records into Nightstop in accordance with confidentiality and data protection policies
Additional duties
- The work at Gloucestershire Nightstop is often unpredictable and varied, and tasks and responsibilities may change based on circumstances. As such, all staff are expected to be flexible and take on tasks not specifically outlined in their job description when needed. These additional duties typically arise from unforeseen circumstances or changes in the workload and will generally align with the usual type of work. What we are looking for from you:

Knowledge and experience
- Experience of working with volunteers
- Background of office support and administrative tasks
- Knowledge/understanding of the issues homeless young people face, their support needs and how these might be met
Skills and abilities
- Ability to work to own initiative and within a small team
- Ability to form positive working relations with others including clients, colleagues and external parties; experience of liaison with agencies/partner organisations.
- Confidence in using initiative to respond to situations and problem-solving
- Effective and accurate in a range of IT systems, mainly Microsoft office and databases
