Head of Professional Guidance Centre

Cheltenham Ladies’ College is looking to appoint to the role of Head of Professional Guidance Centre. This vacancy has arisen due to the current incumbent, who has successfully held the post for a number of years, securing a promotion to the Leadership Team.

We are looking for an outward-facing and skilled professional with strong management experience and vision to maintain and develop a dynamic and effective programme of professional guidance.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in one of the world’s leading schools, and to play a key part in guiding students as they make exciting decisions about their next steps, which include destinations around the globe, but with a particular focus on the UK and USA.

This role carries significant responsibility and scope for professional development. The successful candidate will have a leading role in promoting the work of the Professional Guidance Centre both internally and externally to students and parents.

The Professional Guidance Centre (PGC) at Cheltenham Ladies’ College is a team of specialist Careers and Higher Education guidance advisers and counsellors. The team are dedicated to supporting each and every student by developing and implementing an effective strategy of guidance that enables them to make well informed and emboldened decisions about their Higher Education and Career opportunities.

The successful applicant for this role will lead the work of the department. The PGC team works closely with all the teaching departments in College, all members of the Leadership Team (LT), the IB Diploma Programme Co-ordinator, Tutors and Houseparents to inform and empower students as they make key choices about their futures.

Throughout their time at College, the PGC aims to promote independence and nurture confidence in our students, helping them to manage the decisions and processes they face and encouraging positivity and excitement about their futures. The PGC offers individualised support from LC1 (Year 7) to SFC2 (Year 13) and beyond – students can and do make the most of our support even after leaving College.
