College Archivist

Cheltenham

Salary: up to £38,106 FTE per annum (up to £29,312 pro-rata), plus 5.6 weeks holiday pay; starting salary depending on skills, qualifications and experience.

Full Time: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Working 40 weeks (34 term time weeks plus 6 weeks during school holidays). Some flexibility will be required with regards weekend/evening working in order to support Heritage Days and Events.

We are recruiting for a College Archivist to supervise, plan, organise, maintain and preserve College’s archival and artefact collections. The College Archive has overview from the Principal (who is ex officio President of Guild, our alumnae organisation) and the Leadership Team. Line management and day to day support comes from the Head of Library Services.

Applicants should have a post graduate qualification in archive work, experience of arranging exhibitions, excellent organisational skills and the ability to lead a small team of employees and volunteers. An interest in history, especially the history of women’s education and experience of working with museum collections and operating a records management system is essential.
