At Chosen Hill School, we believe in fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is known, valued and given the opportunity to thrive. About the Role:
As the Assistant Headteacher:

The SEND provision was recognised as a strength of the school in our recent Ofsted Report (December 2024). Your role will be both strategic and hands-on, guiding the development of our excellent SEND provision and driving forward initiatives to promote inclusion across the school. This role benefits from the expertise of a Deputy Inclusion Lead and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the SEND team, ensuring high-quality provision for students with a wide range of needs.
- Work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement an inclusive vision for the school.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and ensure appropriate interventions are in place for SEND pupils.
- Collaborate with teachers to enhance inclusive teaching practices and support professional development.
- Build strong relationships with families, ensuring their voice is heard and their child’s needs are met.
- Promote a whole-school approach to inclusion, ensuring that all students, regardless of need, feel valued and supported.
- Lead support for Children in Care and Young Carers, working closely with the DSL as part of the safeguarding team.
- Monitor the progress of SEND students and report regularly on outcomes to leadership.
About You:
We are looking for a motivated, forward-thinking leader with a strong track record in SEND provision and a commitment to achieving excellence for all students. You will have experience in a SENDCO role or similar leadership position, with a deep understanding of SEND law, practice, and provision. A strong communicator, you will have the ability to inspire and lead others in ensuring inclusive education is at the heart of everything we do.
You will bring:
- A passion for inclusion and a belief in every child’s potential.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in SEND provision.
- Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead a team effectively.
- A commitment to building a culture of high expectations and achievement for all students.
- The ability to build strong, positive relationships with staff, parents, and external agencies.
- A determination to drive continuous improvement in SEND and inclusion across the school.
- The experience and ability to teach a specialist subject to support your SENDCO role
Why Join Us?
At Chosen Hill, you will be joining a committed and enthusiastic team of staff and leaders who are passionate about making a difference. We offer a supportive environment where professional development is a priority, and you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our inclusive education.
