Service Manager - SM1
Stroud
This is a management role, and the post holder is expected to be self-motivated and work on their own initiative, setting their own work plans and that of their teams. The role also requires cross-organisational working and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to meet the overall objectives of the organisation.
It is essential that the post holder has a working knowledge of mental health and housing as it relates to the social care agenda.
Annual Leave: 31 days per annum inclusive of public and bank holidays.
Driving Licence essential.
Purpose of the Job:
Working with the CEO to provide strong collaborative management of the Organisation’s service delivery units in order to deliver high quality services and long-term sustainability in line with the strategic aims of the organisation.
Principal Tasks:
Leading and Managing the Organisation
- Working with the CEO to develop operating policies to ensure that support programmes and activities are of high quality and in line with quality assurance frameworks.
- Manage the implementation of high-quality support service provision according to regulations and commissioner expectations.
- Review and report on progress against agreed targets.
- Work closely with support team to ensure the organisation remains responsive to service user needs.
- Provide an appropriate level of presence in different locations in order to ensure equitable delivery across the organisation.
- Manage service delivery incidents and complaints according to the organisation’s policies and procedures.
- Oversee the recruitment and induction of service delivery staff.
- Supervise service delivery staff in order to enable them to fulfil their job description and wider potential.
- Ensure that service delivery staff team meetings take place on a regular basis.
- Manage procontracts and other commissioned contracts.
- Provide operational leadership in accordance with agreed policies and protocols, the vision, key objectives and values of OPENhouse.
- Ensure voids are managed effectively and all avenues are explored fully to maintain maximum occupancy.
- Ensuring the referral management process works effectively and the service user journey is professional and appropriate from arrival to transition.
- Enhance the charity’s reach, impact and profile locally and regionally.
Management roles and responsibilities
- Be the Safeguarding Officer for the organisation and ensure all safeguarding concerns are reported in line with policy and procedure to the relevant county council Safeguarding Board.
- Implement processes and systems that report on operational progress against agreed targets and KPIs.
- In collaboration with the senior leadership team ensure the project is fully staffed with appropriately trained employees.
- Conduct Supervisions and manage service delivery staff in order to enable them to fulfil their job description and their full potential.
- Be responsible for any escalated complaints in line with OPENhouse complaints policy and procedure.
- Organise and chair residents meetings on a regular basis.
- Ensure that the charity is presented in an appropriate and professional manner to its stakeholders.
- Represent the charity in public forums.

Person Specification
Essential
- Commitment to the aims and values of OPENhouse and a desire to bring about positive change in supporting vulnerable people and adults.
- At least 3 years’ experience managing diverse teams within the supported Housing Sector.
- Experience of tender writing, monitoring and evaluating services, report writing and delivering service delivery plans.
- Excellent all round communication skills and relationship management abilities.
- Good management skills and the ability to enthuse and motivate others.
- Personal Integrity, compassion and a proven track record of achieving excellent results.
Desirable
- Operational understanding of mental health and housing as it relates to the social care agenda.
- Experience of managing change.
- Practical understanding of the voluntary and community sector in the UK and the issues it faces.

Salary: £30,000pa
