We are looking for caring, compassionate and hardworking nurses, who want to make a difference to work in our out of hours community nursing service.
We are a team of highly skilled, dedicated and caring nurses who strive to make a difference to the local people within our community. Caring is at the heart of what we do, and this motivates us to deliver the best quality care we can.
We deliver community nursing services to patients requiring unplanned care in the evenings and overnight. We are co located with the Integrated Urgent Care Service - out of hours GP and the Rapid Response team.
The evening and overnight district nursing team will support patient flow through a timely response to patients in the out of hours period from 7pm until 8am.
We pride ourselves on fostering a positive and inclusive culture, our team is dedicated to supporting one another, offering guidance and mentorship to support new starters in role. We offer a supportive induction and are committed to professional development.
Main duties of the job
As a member of the team you would be expected to work twilight (7pm until 1am) across 7 days including weekends and bank holidays. As a trust we have an excellent flexible working policy and work in partnership with our staff to meet the needs of the service.
We are a modern trust, which means whilst on the go you'll be equipped for mobile working (using a laptop and smart phone device); not only is this safer because you will have access all patient information at your fingertips, it also means you can complete records and any other patient paperwork in real time, so you can then focus all your attention on your next patient.
The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.
Please note a driving licence and use of vehicle for work purposes are essential for this role.
About us
We have a skilled and dedicated workforce of over 5000 colleagues working in a diverse range of services over 55 sites and within people's homes. We strive to enable a welcoming workplace culture that builds and celebrates civility, inclusivity and diversity, while providing a sense of belonging and trust.
Annual staff surveys, regular Pulse surveys and other engagement opportunities provide our people with lots of opportunity to tell us about their experiences of working with us. In the latest staff survey, 61% of colleagues gave us their views. It was great to hear that:
- 72% of colleagues would recommend the Trust as a place to work, ranking us 1st for Provider Trusts in the South West region on this question.
- 76% would recommend the standard of care provided in our services if a friend or relative needed treatment, also ranking us 1st in the South West region.
- 81% said that care of patients and service users is the Trust's priority, compared with an average in comparable NHS Trusts in England of 64%.
This high-level overview shows we are in a healthy position, with higher scores than average for comparable organisations, alongside a great response rate, indicating good staff engagement. However, we also know we have plenty of room for improvement in many areas. To that end, we continue to prioritise and invest in our commitment to genuinely becoming a Great Place to Work with consistent top-quartile performance in the annual staff survey and Pulse surveys.
