Scrub / Anaesthetic Practitioner, Nurse/ODP - C9327-25-0210

Stroud

Job summary

Our theatre units in Stroud and Tewkesbury Community Hospitals are recruiting an enthusiastic Band 5 qualified ODP / Registered Nurse, with experience of both scrub and anaesthetics and who would work across both units.

Working in Day Surgery will help you maintain a good work life balance, enjoy the structure of elective procedures in a small busy and modern environment, with opportunities and support to develop personally and professionally.

The Princess Anne Unit, in Stroud consists of 1 operating theatre, a 2 bedded PACU and a 12 bedded day ward which also supports the adjacent endoscopy unit. Being part of the Princess Unit may also give you the opportunity of developing new skills within endoscopy.

The theatre department in Tewkesbury is a stand-alone unit, consisting of 1 operating theatre, a 2 bedded PACU and a small day ward, consisting of 5 bays.

The service and specialities offered are constantly developing to meet the needs of the local communities. Current specialities include Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, Breast, Orthopaedic, ENT, and general surgery.

Stroud and Tewkesbury are beautiful market towns set in semi-rural positions in Gloucestershire, with easy access to the M5 motorway linking Birmingham, Bristol and the Southwest; together with excellent train links to London. As with all our community hospitals, there is plentiful onsite free parking. We currently provide a service from Monday to Friday, 8am until 6pm.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Registered Nurse (RN) requires you to function effectively as a member of the peri-operative team to ensure the safe provision and development of an efficient and high-quality service. Using your scrub and anaesthetic experience you will be a key member of the peri-operative team ensuring that patients receive excellent standards of care. You will be confident in the role of the scrub and anaesthetic practitioner and will have a broad knowledge and skill base.

There is an expectation that you will work across both theatre departments in the two hospitals and therefore you must have a flexible approach to working in order that you contribute to the smooth running of both theatres.

You will be driven to ensure the standards of care you deliver are effective, current and evidenced-based and enjoy working within a small team putting the patient at the heart of everything that you do.

We welcome applications from newly qualified nurses.
