Lecturer in Social Sciences (Criminology, Psychology, and Sociology)

 

Salary: £30,800-£45,267

(Salary is dependent on qualifications and previous experience)

Contract: Full-time; Permanent

Required:  Immediate start available

The faculty of Social Sciences itself is a vibrant, supportive and forward-thinking team; the teaching staff work together closely and have a genuine passion for their subjects.

We are seeking adaptable and creative individuals to join our high achieving Criminology team (and potentially psychology and sociology teams moving forward) and contribute to curriculum initiatives. You would teach surrounded by a large and supportive team who will readily share resources and best practices, and offer support whenever required. Within this environment we would help you further develop as a practitioner, as you in turn develop your students.

Our 2024 high grades in criminology demonstrate our commitment to excellence. Can you contribute toward this high functioning department?

This role will likely include the teaching of criminology for the academic year 2024-25. However, beyond that, the successful candidate may branch out to teach psychology and/or sociology too. Therefore experience in these subjects, or a willingness to teach these, is expected.

This is a great opportunity whether you are experienced in Further Education or want to make the switch from an 11-18 school.

Candidates should have a commitment to further education and be motivated to achieve high standards in teaching and learning.  The ability to work well within teams and to adapt to curriculum demands is essential.  Ideally candidates should possess a good honours degree and a teaching qualification.

The post holder will be expected to:

Teach to a high standard, and develop the relevant skills to teach truly outstanding provision
Candidates should have a commitment to providing high quality learning to enable all learners to achieve their full potential.  The ability to truly work as a team player is also essential.  The post holder will be expected to demonstrate outstanding organisational and interpersonal skills.
Candidates should possess either proven experience in industry or a good honours degree in a related subject (or a combination of both). Ideally you will hold a teaching qualification, or be committed to obtain a suitable qualification once in post.
