Gloucester
Summary
Salary: Grade 7 £37,099 - £41,732 per annum
Location: OXSTALLS CAMPUS
Job Type: Academic
Description
Lecturer in Drama and Performance
This is a 0.8 FTE on a 2-year Fixed Term Contract.
We are open to conversations about fractional posts such as 0.2/0.4. Or if you have a particular specialism and only want to concentrate on that, we can employ you as a part time hourly paid lecturer, which will allow you flexibility.
We don’t just study the theory of Drama here at the University of Gloucestershire, we put it into practice:
Our teaching is intensely practical, with real world partnerships, projects and productions. We strive to support our students to get out into the world with the right skills to help them become visible, viable practitioners.
We’re proud to have created an ethos which both stretches and supports our performance students, challenging them to be the best possible versions of themselves in line with the university’s key pillars of careers, connections and community.
We’re now looking for new people to join our team: you will be teaching across our BA Drama and Performance Practice and our BA Performing Arts courses, engaging our students with their ever-evolving craft and the arts sector more widely. You’ll join a team of experts and teach on courses which are being constantly refined to bring out the best in our students.
We work flexibly, we want to be innovative and emulate best practice.
We need people with expertise in the following areas:
· Theatre Practitioners – Stanislavsky, Adler, Meisner
· Physical Theatre
· Acting/Directing for Screen & TV
· Multi-Media Theatre
· Directing Classical & Contemporary scripted Performance work
· Political & Agit-prop Theatre
· Educational Theatre practices (Heathcote, Forum Theatre, workshops)
We want people to join our team who will bring a dynamic and contemporary understanding of current practice and who can motivate and enthuse our students to be the best they can be. Your experience as a practitioner matters to us and teaching experience is not essential but it’s a real bonus for us. Teaching would begin in September 2024.
Closing date: Tuesday 2nd July 2024
Interview date: Thursday 11th July 2024
Please make it clear which job you are applying for.
To avoid disappointment please apply early, should we find a suitable candidate we will close the advert.
The University is committedto building a diverse and inclusive staff community and welcomes applications from currently under-represented sections of our workforce. We are proud to be a Disability Confident Leader, guaranteeing an interview to everyone who meets the definition of disability set out in the Equality Act 2010 and the essential criteria contained within the person specification.
