Head of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion – Full time with potential for Part time (0.8 to FTE)

A well-qualified, inspiring and experienced musician is required to join our large and vibrant Music department as a full-time Head of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion.
The Music department has seven full-timeand 35 visiting staff, alongside a Graduate Accompanist. Within the Woodwind, Brass and PercussionFaculty there are 6 teachers who currently deliver over 120 individual lessons each week. Currently we have a Symphonic Windband, Brass Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble, Two Flute Ensembles, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band and in addition two Symphony Orchestras, three String Ensembles, College Choir, Lower College Choir, Gospel Choir, Chamber Choir and a number of Chamber Ensembles.
The Head of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion will direct woodwind, brass and percussion ensembles, conduct the Symphonic Wind Band, teach individual instrumental lessons and manage faculty staff. The post holder will report to the Director of Music and work alongside other full-time staff, including Heads of Keyboard, Vocal Studies and Strings. Ability as an accompanist may be advantageous, but not essential.The ability to teach Class Music to Lower College pupils also forms part of the role. It is expected that the successful applicant will have a strong vision, alongside bold initiatives for growth across the woodwind, brass and percussion departments.
All teachers are expected to contribute to the rich co-curricular life of the College, but there are no residential duties.
