Teacher of Dance with Drama
Cheltenham

Responsible to: Head of Department
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Cheltenham Bournside School as a Teacher of Dance with Drama. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Dance to join our dynamic team, with the willingness to also teach Drama. This role requires the ability to teach Dance at A-level, nurturing students’ talents and helping them achieve their full potential.
The Drama and Dance Department at Bournside is a dynamic innovative and exciting place to work.
We are constantly striving to improve and maintain standards and keep communication and cooperation through performance at the heart of what our students do. We have excellent facilities, newly built Dance studio and our purpose-built Drama studio. We are fortunate in that we also have an additional Drama classroom, department office and backstage areas for props and costume.
The post would be an ideal opportunity for a new entrant to the profession although equally attractive to a more experienced colleague. We have a positive commitment to supporting Early Career Teachers and a comprehensive staff development programme.
Person Specification
Qualification
Essential:
- Degree in Dance or equivalent
- Must be able to teach Dance to A-level
- Qualified Teacher Status
Desirable:
- 2:1 or better
- Qualification to teach Drama
Experience, understanding and knowledge
Essential:
- A passion for Dance and for teaching
- Willingness and the ability to teach Drama KS3/4
- A strong academic background and subject knowledge
- An excellent classroom practitioner (or the potential to be one)
- A commitment to professional development
- An understanding of the needs of pupils across the ability range
- A teacher who can inspire and enthuse pupils and who uses a range of teaching and learning strategies for effective delivery
- An understanding of how to assess pupil progress
- An awareness of ways to raise pupil attainment
- A commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of students
Desirable:
- The ability to use ICT to enhance learning and aid teaching
- The ability to use sound, lighting and technical equipment
