Catering Assistant/Stores Person - GST-R0633

Salary calculated in line with NJC Grade 2 pay scale point 3
FTE Salary £22,737 per annum
Hours of Work: 15 hours per week, over 38 weeks per year (term time only) 11:00am – 14.00pm.
Basis: Part Time

Superannuation: Under the Social Security Act 1986 the post holder has the right to make their own pension arrangements. They may choose to contribute to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) or a Personal Pension Scheme.

Holiday Entitlement:
The annual holiday entitlement is 23 days plus 2 extra-statutory days. As
this is a term time role the postholder will be paid an enhancement for
holiday pay, which is included in the salary details above.

Job Description: Catering Assistant
The duties and responsibilities in this job description are not restrictive and the post holder may be
required to undertake any other duties that may be required from time to time. Any such duties
should not however substantially change the general character of the post.
Job purpose/overall description
To work as part of the school’s catering team. To help with the smooth running of the kitchen
including receiving deliveries, escorting delivery drivers while on the school site and acting as
banksman for them in the car park, putting away deliveries, the cleaning of kitchen equipment and
catering areas, preparation and service of meals under instruction from the catering manager.
Main duties
- Assist with receiving, unloading and putting away deliveries.
- Washing pots and pans
- Keeping floors clean
- Sanitising food preparation areas and ensuring food is stocked up in all areas
- Checking and replenishing stock
- General duties in the kitchen and dining hall
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of school meals
- Assist with the service and presentation of food and beverages
- Assist with the cleaning of kitchen equipment and catering areas
- Attend training courses and meetings as required
- Ensure hygiene and health and safety standards are met at all times
- To play a full part in the life of the school community, supporting its distinctive mission and
- ethos, and encouraging and ensuring staff, pupils and students adhere to school expectations
- Such other duties as may be reasonably allocated by your line manager or Headteacher.
