Are you an enthusiastic and motivated aspiring Pharmacist with an interest in medication safety? Are you ready for that next step? If so, we have just the role for you at Gloucestershire ICB. We are looking for an ICB Medication Safety Pharmacist to join our team, taking a lead on improving medication safety, within Primary Care, for patients in Gloucestershire.
The successful applicant will be a qualified pharmacist (at least 2 years at band 7 or equivalent), with both clinical and operational experience, ideally with previous involvement in working on medication safety initiatives. They will also be able to demonstrate multidisciplinary and cross sector working and negotiation skills.
This post is based at Shire Hall, Westgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2TG. The post holder will spend some of their time working from home and will be provided with the technical equipment to do so. This is a permanent, 0.4WTE post. Main duties of the job
Whilst the primary focus for the postholder will be within Primary Care, they will work closely with the Medication Safety Officers (MSO) from provider organisations across Gloucestershire to ensure joined up care for patients. They will deputise for the ICB MSO and attend the regional MSO meetings on behalf Gloucestershire ICB. The postholder will also work closely with the ICB Patient Safety Lead, to facilitate the implementation of the Primary Care Patient safety strategy locally, with a focus on medication safety.
Reporting directly and being professionally accountable to the ICB Chief Pharmacist for Primary Care, the ICB Medication Safety Pharmacist will be responsible for leading, managing and developing local initiatives to improve medication safety. Their focus will be on high-risk medicines and facilitating the reporting of and analysing data associated with, medication safety incidents and near misses to provide learning opportunities.
