Head of Lower School Science
Cheltenham
Permanent – to start September 2025
We have a fantastic opportunity for a creative and inspirational leader to work as Head of Lower
School Science at Pate’s.
The Science Department at Pate’s is dedicated to fostering curiosity, innovation and an
environment where students are encouraged to explore the wonders of science.
The Lower School Science Department delivers the KS3 science curriculum for Y7 and Y8.
As the Head of Lower School Science you will work with colleagues from the other science
departments, alongside a dedicated technician, and in two dedicated and well-equipped
laboratories.
We follow an in-house curriculum, constructed in partnership with the KS4 departments, that
sparks intellectual curiosity and critical thinking, providing students with the skills to design their
own rigorous scientific studies, and to help them evaluate the vast quantity of information that
they encounter in everyday life through the news and social media.
The department give students many opportunities to enter a wide range of competitions every
year, from ‘Lego League’ and ‘Flying Start’ to the Shell ‘Bright Ideas Challenge’. We also aim to
take the students to the Cheltenham Science Festival each year.
