Assistant Buyer
Gloucester
The Role
We are looking for a Skilled Assistant Buyer /Stock Controller who will assist in maintaining our company's inventory, replenish items according to business needs. Playing a vital role in supporting the Buyer.
Reporting To: Buyer
Objectives
- To create an effective system for the purchase of stock items within the business
- To develop, implement, monitor and maintain efficient processes and workflows
- To plan, manage and oversee the daily functions, operations and activities of the purchase process
- To ensure stock/products are available on-time and within budget
- To maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all work in formats required
- To produce project progress reports as requested
- To attend and contribute to meetings as required
Responsibilities:
As the Assistant Buyer, you will need to:
- Assist the Buyer in selecting, sourcing and purchasing products
- Assist in conducting competitor analysis to identify potential opportunities
- Maintain an awareness of market trends and industry developments
- Communicate with internal sales and suppliers to manage orders, track deliveries and resolve any potential issues that may arise
- Assist in building and maintaining strong relationships to ensure cost efficiency and product quality
- Co-ordinate stock between warehouse locations, communicating with the production planner and warehouse on incoming goods
- Track incoming goods from overseas into the warehouse, ensure the freight agent has required paperwork for customs and finance have knowledge of all incoming goods.
- Update any databases, systems or required spreadsheets
- Support with any required reporting
- Work closely with Marketing and Sales to align product strategies
- Maintain the stock item list, ensuring items have correct setup including costs
- Support the office with any day-to-day admin duties
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience as an Assistant Buyer, or as a stock controller or in a similar role
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Skilled Microsoft Office user
- Strong communication skills
- Negotiation skills
- Attention to detail
- SAGE user (preferred not essential)
