Finlay Community School is a 2-form entry inner city primary school. We are a warm and welcoming school community, committed to providing an exceptional education for all our pupils. We are seeking an exceptional Pastoral Support Worker to join our supportive and collaborative team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for supporting pupils to develop strategies that remove barriers to learning and maximise their participation in school life.
Key Responsibilities:
•Build positive, trusting relationships with identified children based on honesty, understanding, and fairness
•Provide pastoral and administrative case holding duties under the supervision of the Family Services Manager
•Plan and deliver need-led group activities to raise pupils' self-esteem, expectations, achievements, and standards
•Help pupils access the curriculum and achieve their full potential
We are looking for someone who:
•Can build positive relationships with key children.
•Can manage and be responsible for the pastoral and administrative case holding duties under the supervision of the Family Services Manager
•Assist in the moral, social and emotional development and well-being of pupils through effective group work.
•Promote the importance of good mental health and well-being.
•Improve children’s physical health through a range of engaging physical activities.
The successful candidate will have experience of:
•Working with children to remove barriers to learning both inside and outside of school.
•Building positive relationships with children who have a range of needs
•Engaging with families, in order to provide children with the best possible opportunities.
•Planning and delivering effective intervention programmes.
Relationships
The Post Holder is responsible to the Head Teacher for his/her duties and responsibilities as well as developing good relationships with the whole staff team. They will be required to interact on a professional level with colleagues and other external agencies and be able to liaise effectively with parents.
Duties
This job description describes in general terms the normal duties which the post holder will be expected to undertake.
Standards and quality assurance
1.Support the aims and ethos of the school;
2.Make certain that policies relating to Safeguarding and Health and Safety are adhered to;
3.Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance;
4.Undertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the head teacher
5.Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety.
