Your new role
Are you looking for a rewarding role in education that allows you to support and inspire students in their learning journey? We are seeking a reliable and adaptable Teaching Cover Supervisor to join our school and contribute to the seamless continuation of learning in the absence of regular teachers.
You will be working for Hays Education and be part of an industry-leading agency. We offer a wide range of staffing solutions to local secondary schools, including ad-hoc day-to-day supply, long-term cover and permanent appointments.
Cover Supervisor and Supply Teachers play a crucial role in supporting schools during critical periods by offering specialised subject cover or general teaching assistance when regular staff members are absent. The duration of these roles may vary, and many temporary positions serve as potential pathways to more permanent teaching opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage classrooms in the absence of teachers, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and materials across various subjects and grade levels.
- Engage students in learning activities, answer questions, and provide support during the lesson.
- Maintain discipline and uphold school policies while promoting a positive classroom atmosphere.
- Report back to regular teachers on students' behaviour, progress, and any concerns during the cover period.
Requirements:
- Experience working with students or young people in the UK.
- The ability to manage behaviour and classrooms to create positive learning environments.
- An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or be willing to apply for one through Hays.
- The right to work in the UK.
- A commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.
- Previous experience working as a cover supervisor or with students in a school environment is advantageous but not necessary.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students and staff.
- The ability to follow instructions, manage classroom dynamics, and handle unexpected situations with flexibility.
What you'll get in return
- Competitive Day Rate of £90 - £130 paid weekly.
- Supportive work environment with opportunities for professional development.
- Access to the Hays App, where you can access your timesheets, holiday booking system, free training, well-being courses, and a range of discounts and cash-back deals.
- £250 vouchers for referring a friend who completes 20 days' work via Hays.
- Free CV consultation with a dedicated education consultant to support your career goals.
- A flexible work schedule that allows for a healthy work-life balance.
