Voluntary Vice Chair
Cheltenham
A Vice Chair to prepare for eventual appointment as Chair once the Supervisory Board are satisfied that the candidate is sufficiently well informed in terms of process, staffing and operating environment.
The Candidate needs to lead in adopting selected improvement paths which will enhance The Gardens Gallery popularity both for resident artists and for the visiting public.
Profile of activities
To chair the Supervisory Board and be part of the Operations Team both a minimum of 3X pa.
The Gallery is an extremely active Community Art Gallery in the Montpellier Gardens of Cheltenham with some 42 exhibitions per annum.
A micro-business with a revenue of £19000 it performs a valuable service for aspiring artists as well as mature artists. During Cheltenham’s Jazz and Literature Festival the Gallery selects the most fitting Exhibitions for when the footfall rises substantially. The annual footfall is an impressive 24,000.
The Chair needs to reach out to the whole team as well as being visible to the typically 200 artists who exhibit in the Gallery each year.
Interfacing with our landlords (Cheltenham Borough Council ) as well as with the local Residents Association is key.
The Gallery activities take, on average, one whole day each week.
To enhance the satisfaction ratings to yet higher levels.
The Gallery was founded in 2007 and is a limited liability Company and a Community Interest Company.
6 Directors mainly from Art Clubs make up a Supervisory Board.
The daily operations are undertaken by 3 hourly paid staff and a few volunteers.
