We are seeking to appoint a highly effective, caring, enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team for 17.5 hours per week term time only. The role is currently fixed term for 1 year, however we are working to extend this. The contract is attached to the child, if the child's needs change or they leave the school, the contract will change/end with sufficient notice.
The right candidate will have a proven record of accomplishment of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs.
Job Purpose:
To work 1:1 or in small groups/ whole class situations supporting a child in Reception
The right person will have:
• experience working with pupils with social and emotional mental health needs and associated challenges.
• Be able to support pupils with social interactions during unstructured times.
• Be able to improve the communication and interaction of the supported pupil.
• Has a proven record of accomplishment of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs and of delivering a personalised curriculum in either SEN settings or mainstream schools.
• Has specialist knowledge of how to support a young person with SEMH needs.
• Will be able to challenge the cognition and learning of the pupil.
• Is used to working closely with the Class Teacher, other TA’s, SENCO and external professionals.
• Has vision, energy and enthusiasm for this challenge and has excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Is experienced in establishing and maintaining good professional relationships.
The hours are Monday to Friday 9-12:30
TA Role Grade 3
Midday Supervisor Role Grade 2
This job can offer an additional Midday Supervisor role from 12:30-1:30pm. This would be 17.5 hours as TA, 5 hours as Midday Supervisor, totalling 22.5 hours per week. We actively welcome visits to the school. Please contact the school office to arrange a visit.
