SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with social and emotional health difficulties. This pupil has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), and your role will be crucial in helping her build confidence, develop emotional resilience, and achieve her full potential. This position will be temporary until the pupil leaves Year 6 in July 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored, 1:1 support to the pupil, focusing on social, emotional, and educational development.
- Implement a nurturing and trauma-informed approach to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver strategies outlined in the EHCP.
- Adapt to fast-paced and evolving situations, ensuring the pupil’s needs are met effectively.
- Monitor and document progress, providing feedback to staff and parents/carers as needed.
- This role may require home visits (in King’s Stanley).
About You
To be successful in this role, you should:
- Have experience supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, preferably in a primary school setting.
- Be able to work independently while maintaining excellent communication with the wider team.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Be resilient and adaptable, able to manage challenging situations with a calm and positive demeanour.
- Understand and embrace a nurture-based approach to learning and development.
- Hold relevant qualifications or experience in supporting children with additional needs (e.g., Level 2/3 TA qualification, SEMH training).
