Job description
Join our dedicated team at National Star College as Occupational Therapy Deputy Manager.
Are you ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of learners with diverse and complex needs? Do you excel in a dynamic, supportive environment where your skills and leadership can have a lasting impact? If so, we’d love for you to join our team as an Occupational Therapy Deputy Manager at National Star College!
In this role, you’ll work closely with the OT Manager to ensure the successful delivery of therapy services across our National Star provisions. You will lead a dedicated team and ensure that the therapeutic needs of our students are met, promoting their health, wellbeing, and development in line with their individual goals and long-term aspirations. Based primarily at our campus on the outskirts of Cheltenham, you will also support our other provisions across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and South Wales.
What you will do:
Support and Lead: Work in close partnership with the OT Manager to supervise and guide a team of therapists, apprentices, and assistants. You’ll assist with managing the daily operations of the department, including overseeing staff development, placements, and wellbeing support, ensuring a positive and collaborative environment.
Enhance Learning and Wellbeing: Lead the delivery of personalised OT provision, working with learners to support their independence and progress. You will be instrumental in shaping tailored therapy programs that align with each learner’s EHCP outcomes and personal goals.
Shape Team Development: Bring your expertise to nurture continuous growth and development within the OT team. Provide clinical supervision, mentor staff, and ensure that all team members have access to professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work alongside other therapy managers and learning support teams to ensure an integrated approach to therapy provision across the College. You’ll represent the OT team in cross-college meetings, ensuring the importance of therapy and promoting student independence.
Quality and Innovation: Maintain the high standards of therapy delivery within the department. You’ll contribute to quality assurance processes, audits, and the development of best practices, helping us maintain excellence in therapeutic services.
What we are looking for:
A qualified senior Occupational Therapist with extensive experience in delivering high-quality therapy services to individuals with a wide range of complex disabilities.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to guide and inspire a diverse team, including colleagues working across multiple locations.
A focus on continuous learning and development, both for yourself and the team, ensuring that everyone can grow professionally and meet the evolving needs of students.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a caseload, collaborate effectively, and contribute to the overall success of the College.
A strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring that every student is supported to reach their full potential in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
