Skills Training Instructor
Gloucester
Contract: Permanent
Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday 8.00am – 4.15pm and Friday 8.00am – 1.15pm (36.25 hours)
Reporting to: Training & Maintenance Manager
Main Aim:
To provide high quality training, assessment and instruction to learners in order to achieve. Ensure a high level of health, safety and welfare to learners, colleagues and visitors at all times.
Duties Include:
- To work as part of a team to deliver high quality training, assessment and instruction to learners within GET’s centre (mechanical, electrical, electronic or dual skill).
- Provide instruction and guidance to Learners in areas in line with required Apprenticeship standards.
- Plan, develop and review schemes of work, lesson plans and resources to ensure they are up to date and relevant.
- Assessment of the learner competence against the relevant Apprenticeship standards.
- Contribute to the development of the annual training programme.
- Use appropriate tracking systems to monitor and assess the progress of learners and provide additional support, guidance and advice when required.
- Assist with general maintenance of plant, equipment and resources if required.
- Provide constructive verbal and/or written feedback to learners, progress reviewers and employers.
- Deliver commercial training courses including liaising with customers to arrange booking.
- Support GET’s Maintenance Technician Apprentices with training and development.
- Provide guidance and support for learners on WorldSkills standards and requirements, supporting and coaching learners when appropriate.
General Standard:
- Promote GET and its business in a positive manner at all times.
- Promote the equality, diversity and safeguarding of learners, staff and visitors at all times.
- Contribute to the implementation of the company business plan, self-assessment report and quality improvement plan and processes.
- Maintain discipline and cleanliness at all times within the centre.
- Ensure a high standard of health, safety and welfare to learners, staff and visitors at all times.
- Ensure own training and development is up to date and relevant to current industry.
We reserve the right to request employees to assist with reasonable additional duties as and when required; including attendance at careers fairs and similar business related events.
Skills and / or Qualifications:
- High level of expertise in a range of Engineering skills.
- Industry experience.
- The ability to communicate easily and clearly with learners, both orally and in written forms.
- A desire and ability to inspire, motivate and engage with learners to achieve their potential.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Description: Skills Training Instructor
Ideal: Previous experience of teaching, learnings, assessment and relevant qualifications (PTLLS, Assessor Award, A1, TAQA or equivalent).
Essential: Where qualifications not currently held, the incumbent needs a willingness and capability to study to undertake relevant qualifications.
Enhanced DBS disclosure essential.
