Go Transport are recruiting for a number of part time School Minibus drivers in both Gloucester and Cheltenham. Each vehicle has a driver and a passenger  assistant, so you will benefit from being part of a great team providing invaluable care.

Typically, our drivers start their day between 7.00 and 7.30am and collect their passenger assistant from their home address (which is usually pretty local) and then take their passengers on to the school. The same process happens in reverse in the afternoon from 14.30 to 16.30pm, depending on the route.

Most drivers keep their vehicles at their home address (or somewhere safe and close by). This reduces the amount of travelling and saves time at the start and end of each day. You can choose to keep the vehicle at our site if you prefer.

Main duties and responsibilities of the driver:

• Daily vehicle checks and defect reporting
• Collecting children with special needs from home and transporting them to and from school - Operating a safe, reliable and punctual service
• Keeping the minibus clean and tidy
• Monitoring child behaviour and reporting any problems
• As driver you have overall responsibility for the operation of the route
• Depending on route and vehicle allocated, you will carry either 2-4 passengers or 4-10 passengers

You will be supported through the onboarding process which takes around 2 - 3 weeks and includes DBS application, Private Hire License, PATS, Safeguarding & 1st Aid Training and attending a GO Induction.

Job start date:  28th April 2025 onwards

Working pattern and days

• Expected hours: part-time 15 - 20 per week (specific shift patterns will be discussed if application moves to interview) - Day shift - Monday to Friday - No weekends. School term-time only.
• Staff are contracted to work every school term day, and any time off for appointments or holidays must be made during the school holiday periods or outside of working hours.

Skills needed

• Drivers must hold a Tewkesbury Borough Council Private Hire Licence or be prepared to obtain one. We will support you through the application process and reimburse you on completion of 3-month probationary period.
• For insurance purposes our drivers must have at least 3 years driving experience.
• You must have a clean driving licence.
• Gloucester or Cheltenham based
• Applicants need to understand care plans, a good level of English is required if second language
• Reliable
• Organised
• Can work to timescales
• Good communication skills
• Good customer service - friendly & courteous
• Care experience useful
