Voluntary Trustees
Gloucestershire
Our Vision is for Gloucestershire to be a county where everyone can enjoy good food, and nobody goes hungry.
Feeding Gloucestershire is a multi-agency partnership, which was convened in July 2021. The aim of Feeding Gloucestershire is to work with organisations across the county to drive systemic change and build food security across all communities in Gloucestershire.
We partner with organisations across the public, voluntary and community and private sectors, including local and national food aid organisations; parish, town and district councils and Gloucestershire County Council (GCC)
We’re a registered charity which means that our board of trustees collectively has overall accountability for our work and delivery. Trustees are volunteers and serve a three-year term.
You can read more about the responsibilities of trustees here.
We’re looking for new trustees from any background, of any age (must be over 16), who have a passion for food equity. We are also keen to recruit a Treasurer, so if you have an interest in charity finance we would love to hear from you.
Our strategic aims are:
- To find sustainable solutions to helping people who are struggling with low incomes or debt to access good food that they can afford.
- To champion systemic change to build food security, creating local, equitable and sustainable healthy food provision.
- To reduce food waste.
- To facilitate equitable access to emergency food provision.
- To build community resilience and promote social inclusion, cohesion, and connection through food.
- To help tackle the root causes of food poverty
As a trustee you will receive:
- The opportunity to help drive systemic change to benefit individuals and communities in Gloucestershire.
- Training and development, learning new skills to help you in your trustee role and beyond.
- Expenses relating to your trustee role.
In return we ask that you:
- Attend meetings - our board of trustees meets bi-monthly (meetings are usually held on Wednesdays between 1pm and 3pm in Stroud or online).
- Consent to share your information with the Charity Commission, key staff, and fellow trustees.
- Undertake mandatory training and be willing to take on additional roles and responsibilities where necessary.
- Adhere to our Trustee Code of Conduct.
Please note - there are certain automatic exclusions to being a trustee unless authorised by the Charity Commission - to see a full list, click here.
